Our client has a wonderful, antique Chinese red wood basket, and thought it would be great to have just that look in the kitchen.  Through research and speaking with artists trained the "old" way, we found how to re-create the finish precisely.  The resulting cabinets are a beautiful red, with touches of black coming through.  The floors are FSC-certified White Tiger wood; counters an intricately striped mustard-yellow travertine.  We created the multi-colored concrete-tiled backsplash to pull all the colors together.  The cook top hood mimics the shape of the window, looking across the meadow into the sea.  Low-voltage lighting from a dropped rail system.
