The
23k gold-leaf mirror reflects this "Chambre d'ami"
bedroom of the Marin Designers Showcase House in Kentfield,
from what was once the closet. By angling the side walls and
dropping the ceiling in this bedroom, an alcove was created
for the extra-wide custom chaise and Empire-style Malmaison
table. The zinc and titanium wall finish (seen here for the
first time in public in the
USA
) cures like a refined version of a Venetian stucco.
18th
century Italian crayon drawings, details such as lion-head
finials, unique antiques and custom objects d'art are balanced
in romantic harmony. Tone-on-tone color, with accents of black
and gold, define a formality from where the plaid on the
French, hand-carved Acanthus bed can bring the room back down
to earth. |
